This Week's Harvest
Monday 13th July
This week's harvest from the Walled Garden
At Weston, our Estate to Plate philosophy celebrates the changing seasons and the exceptional produce grown right here on the estate. Just a short walk from The Granary Restaurant, our four-acre Walled Garden provides a steady supply of freshly harvested fruit, vegetables and herbs, picked at their peak by our gardening team and delivered straight to the kitchen.
This week’s harvest is another fantastic example of the abundance of summer, with over 46kg of fresh produce making its way from the garden to our kitchens. The team harvested 21.8kg of courgettes and squash, 6.1kg of cucumbers, 5.5kg of kohlrabi, 5kg of tomatoes, 2kg of onions, 2kg of elephant garlic, 1.1kg of garden peas, 0.8kg of mixed herbs and 0.5kg of radishes.
Our fruit harvest continues to flourish too, with 1.9kg of raspberries and 250g of delicate white Alpine strawberries freshly picked, adding vibrant, homegrown flavours to desserts, afternoon tea and seasonal specials.
Anna Krapivina, our Head Gardener, said:
“Every week the garden offers something different, and that’s what makes this time of year so exciting. We harvest each crop at its very best before it’s taken straight to the kitchen, where our chefs can make the most of its freshness. It’s a real team effort, and there’s a great sense of pride in seeing guests enjoy produce that was growing in the garden just hours earlier.”
