Weston Park was pleased to welcome a visit jointly organised by Faye Tai Chi Friends and the Chinese Arts and Culture Centre’s members and friends on Monday 21st August, when a group of 34 visited the House and gardens.

The group comprised guests from the Telford area, together with others from across the UK – including the renowned artist Li Mang – who have an affiliation to the Chinese Arts and Culture Centre in Telford.

The group was welcomed by Weston Park’s Curator & Head of Learning, Gareth Williams, who acted as a guide for the group, accompanied by Weston Park’s volunteers Lynne Hancher and Barbara Hughes. The group was shown the House’s collections, including the important collections of Chinese porcelain and decorative arts, with members able to contribute their own thoughts on the symbolism and purpose of the pieces as they went from room to room.

At the conclusion of the tour, a group of ladies from within the group performed a traditional Chinese folk dance in the Marble Hall. This was then followed by a ta chi demonstration led by Master Tary Yip, Founder & Chief Instructor of the Deyin Taijiquan Institute. Weston Park is grateful to Faye Li-Yip from Faye Thai Chi Friends and the Chinese Arts and Culture Centre for bringing such an interested and erudite group to Weston Park.
