Behind the Secret Door, Stories from the Shelves
We invite you to join our volunteers and take a seat amongst centuries of pages and spend an hour or two in good company. The Library here at Weston is not a quiet monument to the past, but a living room of stories.
Our volunteers work regularly on the books in the Library and want to share these wonderful tomes with you. No prior knowledge required, no academic expectations.
Each session will open a door into a different corner of the library collection, on a variety of themes and a chance to chat.
Close to Home
We will explore treasures connected to Weston and Shropshire; the Gobelins Tapestries, the story of Tong Church and its castle, the Boundary Comissioners recommendations for Salop in 1888 and records of local life preserved in fabric, furniture and print.
Each session is designed to feel like opening a cabinet of curiosities – accessible, visible and conversational.
We look forward to turning the pages with you!
10am – 12noon
£15 per person
We will meet at 9.50am in the atrium outside the Granary Restaurant and will walk over to the House together.
The session finishes at 12noon – why not continue the conversation over lunch in the Granary Restaurant?
